He Shoots He Scores! Composer Hans Zimmer's Film Scoring MasterClass
I'm not talking soccer, or futball or...fussball. I've signed up for the Film Scoring MasterClass with Academy Award winning composer Hans Zimmer and I can hardly contain my excitement.
When I was a teenager, finding my way as a songwriter and composer, I remember watching Michael Bay's movie The Rock in theaters and being blown away, not just by the action being blasted through the THX sound system, but by the music that supported every single scene.
From beginning to end this film score took me on a musical journey unlike any I had experienced before. So much so, that it was the first film score I ever added to my gym workout playlist. It made me feel like a hero; it inspired me. It helped me not give up; it pushed me a little harder. It also set the pace for many of my late-night studying sessions in the school library.
Since then, I'm always excited to learn that the music in the movie that just rocked my world was composed by Zimmer. With over 150 credits to his name, his works include The Lion King for which he won an Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1994, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, The Thin Red Line, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, and Interstellar.
You can preview and purchase his work directly from his website. It's hard for me to pick a favorite but because of the nostalgia and since it was my introduction to Zimmer, I'd have to pick The Rock. Check it out for yourself here.
